Neighbors Caring for Neighbors - Jacqueline M.

It is difficult to imagine how devastating it is to be medically unstable and be helpless to do anything about it; to be forced to choose between necessary medical care and food or rent. In Cape May County we have a way to offer hope and help to our neighbors who, through no fault of their own, have no health insurance and cannot afford access to care. We have a way to make a difference for our neighbors in need. Since opening day in 2002, Volunteers in Medicine (VIM), a 501(c)3 non-profit, has provided free care to residents of Cape May County and the surrounding community who do not have or cannot afford medical insurance and who meet financial eligibility criteria. VIM relies on volunteer medical practitioners and a very lean staff to provide primary health care, emphasizing disease prevention, health promotion, and patient education in an easily accessible facility with the same dignity and confidentiality afforded in the private sector. VIM, with the support of the medical community and partners like Burke Subaru, is able to address the health and well-being of patients; stabilize chronic conditions; help contain infectious disease; and, reduce public healthcare costs by reducing reliance on emergency rooms in local hospitals. Thanks to support from Burke Subaru and Subaru’s Share the Love campaign, VIM is able to assist patients like Tom with his diabetes care management. Before enrolling at VIM, Tom’s diabetes was out of control and he was frequently too ill work. He had medical debt he could not pay due to several ER visits. Now that he is established with VIM, Tom sees volunteer Dr. Sitkoff every three months at VIM for no charge. VIM provided him with a glucometer and tests strips for measuring his sugars, enrolled him in a monthly diabetes education class, and helps him access his life-saving insulin at no charge. Thanks to the care he receives at VIM, Tom’s diabetes is controlled and he is feeling great. This life-changing care is only possible thanks to the medical professionals who volunteer their time and talent and partners in caring, like Burke Subaru and Subaru’s Share the love campaign. Together we are neighbors caring for neighbors!

Burke Subaru runs wonderful Sensory - friendly Santa event - Marty K.

Dear Subaru, I am a happy owner of a Subaru from Burke Subaru and I am also a Pet Therapy partner to Buddy, a 14 year old rescue black lab mix. Buddy is a R.E.AD. Certified dog and children read to Buddy at the library every month. see link below: https://dobbsferrylibrary.org/events/paws-for-reading-with-buddy-5/ Buddy and I travel to the library in my Subaru Outback. The back seat has a low step and that is great for Buddy to get in and out of the car. - see picture attached. When I heard about Burke Subaru planning a Sensory - friendly Santa event for special needs children and their families, I suggested having a therapy dog team at the event. Francey jumped on this idea and quickly arranged for a therapy dog team to be at the event to meet the children. (see Turbo pic). Turbo helped to contribute to all of the other features of this successful holiday event for over 100 happy children and their families. Thank you Francey and thank you Burke Subaru. Women's Only Network at Burke Subaru for CARA - Claire G.

The Coalition Against Rape and Abuse, Inc. (CARA) offers multiple services to adults and children in support of individuals and families who are victim(s) to Domestic and Sexual Violence. Among these services are CARA’s Counseling sessions, CARA’s Buddy Group, CARA’s Food Pantry, CARA’s Law Project, to name a few. All of our services are free and confidential. Please be informed that we are neither a Healthcare facility, nor a Drug and Alcohol Counseling/Rehabilitation site. This year, on 27 March 2024, Francey Burke of Burke Subaru was host to the Women's Only Network in Cape May County, New Jersey where each year they choose a recipient of their generosity. The Women’s Only Network is a group of local businesswomen who meet monthly from a wide variety of occupations. The Coalition Against Rape and Abuse Inc (CARA) was chosen and received thousands of items ranging from personal care products to monetary donations to help those less fortunate victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence. These donations help CARA to provide basic necessities to those that come into our safe shelter and beyond. We would not be able to meet the needs of survivors and their children if not for the generosity of the Women's Only Network held annually at Burke Subaru. We at CARA also believe that a perfect world is possible and through the commitment of Burke Subaru and organizations like the Women's Only Network we can make this a reality one survivor at a time. Please accept our deepest gratitude for your efforts and generosity because without your love and commitment, our mission would not be as successful in helping to make a difference in the lives of those who come to CARA. Burke Subaru hosts Women’s Only Network March 2024 - Francey B.

Burke Subaru was very pleased to host over 100 ladies from a local organization, the Women’s Only Network, a group of business women from a wide variety of occupations. Our guest speaker was the President of the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce. At this meeting, we collected hundreds of items for a local women’s shelter. The women enjoyed an elaborate buffet dinner, and they also received a Subaru-themed laptop tote bag. It was a wonderful evening of fellowship and giving back to the community!

Burke Subaru & the Women's Only Network (WON) March 27, 2024 - Maria R.

About 20 years ago a few businesswomen in Cape May County decided it would be fun and productive to meet other women in the community. They put out the word to friends and neighbors and met at each other’s homes for a few hours in the evening, where they shared food and information about their businesses. Today, the Women’s Only Network (WON) has grown to include women of all ages and from all walks of life (business owners; women who work in various industries; homemakers; retirees). WON meets monthly (except in summer months) at local venues, restaurants, and members’ homes. WON has no dues, no officers, no membership fees. WON is just women wanting to network and socialize in a low-key, informal, stress-free environment (and maybe escape from our significant others and children for a few hours!). At each meeting a different charitable organization is selected, and WON members contribute items specific to that organization’s needs and requests. It’s WON’s way of giving back to their community. Prior to, and following the COVID pandemic, Francey Burke and Burke Subaru have sponsored a Spring meeting for WON members, as well as other women in the community, helping WON to expand its reach. The annual Burke Subaru meeting is eagerly anticipated by women in the County, not just because it provides a venue for meeting other women, but also because Francey Burke and Burke Subaru provide a first-class experience. A buffet dinner, catered by Shore Side Catering, is totally upscale. Burke Subaru offers a premium gift to each attendee; this year we received beautiful, chic, tote bags with the Burke Subaru logo. These bags are perfect for everything from carrying laptops to overnight travel items. (Useful, practical, and a way that we women can promote Burke Subaru.) At the March 27, 2024, meeting, CARA (Coalition Against Rape & Abuse) was the identified charity for which the almost 100 attendees contributed thousands of items (cosmetics and personal care) for the women served by CARA. A win-win all around. Pulling this annual Burke Subaru/WON meeting together is no easy task; yet Francey Burke and the staff at Burke Subaru do it efficiently and graciously, attending to every detail. That is who Burke Subaru is to the Cape May County Community. They are not just a car dealership. They are a strong corporate citizen, extremely well respected and appreciated for the way they give back to the people of Cape May County. There is no other car dealership that comes close to what Burke Subaru does to better improve the lives of its neighbors. They don’t just sponsor first-class events; they are indeed a first-class group of people.

Burke Subaru Supports Cape May County Chamber of Commerce - Stephanie C.

Burke Subaru's support for the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce and our community's educational initiatives is truly commendable. Their consistent generosity, evidenced by their annual contributions to our Education Foundation FORE Golf Tournament, underscores their commitment to advancing our mission and fostering growth within our community. Furthermore, Burke Subaru's dedication to empowering women in business was highlighted when they graciously hosted a Women's Only Networking event. This provided our Chamber President, Barbara Stafford Jones, with a platform to speak and connect with fellow professionals. Francey Burke's invitation for our Chamber to promote its activities and initiatives at this event further exemplifies Burke Subaru's commitment to supporting local organizations and facilitating meaningful community engagement. We are immensely grateful for Burke Subaru's partnership and proud to have them as a valued member of our Chamber!

Burke Subaru brought my rescue pup Gigi and me together. - Joseph D.

Burke Subaru has been a wonderful member of the cape May County community. Over the years, I have done business with dozens of car dealership and never have I experienced the generosity, caring and community involvement that Burke Subaru has shown. In 2022, Francey at Burke Subaru sent me an invitation to attend Breakfast with the Middle Township Police. I had never experienced such kindness, generosity and genuine caring for their customers and community at large. The event was held in the beautiful showroom of Burke Subaru and featured a complete catered breakfast and friendly interaction with the Middle Township Police, some local elected officials and the pleasant staff of Burke Subaru starting with the Burke family and all of its Subaru staff. I have since been invited to and attended several more Burke Subaru community events including one for Habitat for Humanity and another for the Ocean City Animal Shelter. It was at this event that I decided to adopt my second senior shelter dog who has brought me great joy. I’m a senior living alone but thanks to Burke Subaru, I now have a wonderful Frenchie who has been given a second chance. It was the Burke Subaru Ocean City Animal Shelter community event that made this happen. Just this month I attended the second Burke Subaru Breakfast with the police event complete with delicious breakfast, gifts from Burke Subaru and a great opportunity to meet and interact with local police officers, elected officials, other residents and especially the caring folks of the Burke family and Burke Subaru staff. Sincerely, Joe DiPrimio

02/21/2024 Middle Township Police Department - Cops and Coffee Event - Ronald M.

Burke Subaru has always partnered up with the Middle Township Police Department for multiple community events. They had assisted us this February with our local Cops and Coffee Event, where members of the community come out to meet and greet our new officers, have casual talks with our police officers, or voice concerns about community issues. They provided us a great location in which 70 people from community attended the event. They also provided a catered breakfast by George's Restaurant a local establishment as well as also giving away a free gift, a travel size coffee mug with Middle Township Departmental Logo and Burke Subaru Logo. This is a great event that brings the community closer together by building stronger partnerships with the police department and community members. Burke Subaru has always supported our local community and with that we are truly grateful for their continued support!

Cops and Coffee at Burke Subaru - John & Jane H.

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of attending a Cops and Coffee event hosted by Burke Subaru. Dave, Francey and Doug Burke were tremendous hosts. The event provided an excellent opportunity for the community to meet officers from Middle Township Police Department and have an open forum to discuss any questions/issues the attendees had for the officers. Burke’s event fostered unity and community spirit. What Burke Subaru does to give back to our community goes above and beyond.

Balloon Cars - Elizabeth D.

Thanks to the generosity of Burke Subaru, I was able to purchase supplies for my 7th grade students to build balloon carts to demonstrate the Laws of Motion. We've never been able to do this before, so our students were very excited to test this out!

Middle Township Middle School - Tara H.

Thanks to the generous donation from Burke Subaru, I was able to purchase lab supplies for my 6th and 7th grade students. These supplies have allowed the science department at Middle Township Middle School to add many hands on activities into the curriculum including balloon powered race cars, models of the Earth, and many more. Thank you Burke Subaru!

Making a Difference - Shannon H.

I have been completely humbled and grateful for the generous donation Subaru has done for my classroom. We now are equipped with brand new headphones for all students to have when using technology and virtual lab demonstrations. Our classroom has a powerful, upgraded pencil sharpener that works amazing too! We are currently using the Litmus and pH paper in our Acids and Bases lesson and labs thanks to you! I'm looking forward to our Genetics unit approaching in the Spring, where we will get to use the additional items, such as the DNA model, and pre-made slides, and slides! I can't thank you enough for allowing me to enhance these lessons thanks to your support. Sincerely, Shannon Hunsicker 8th Grade Science Teacher Middle Township

Coats for families in Cape May - Victoria H.

Cape May Cares is a non-profit organization that works primarily with the residents of the Cape May Housing Authority. Cape May is a beautiful Victorian sea-side town with lovely homes and horse drawn carriage rides. It exudes wealth. But within this gorgeous town, there are under-resourced families that need help with the basics of life. Burke Subaru invited Cape May Cares to be their partner for a coat distribution through Subaru’s Operation Warm. It was a great collaboration! Thanks to Doug Burke and Jeremy for being the muscle and bringing all the coat boxes; thanks to Francey Burke for initiating this community outreach; and thanks to Carlee, a Burke Subaru employee, who helped all day – and it was her birthday! On Saturday, January 21, Cape May Cares opened its doors to those in CMHA housing and the local community who needed a warm, free coat! The excitement and smiles of the families were heartwarming to witness! To know that every child in the Cape May Housing apartments has a warm coat gives us such peace. While selecting a coat, one mother was touched to learn that the coats came from Burke Subaru. She was so grateful for Burke Subaru providing a Sensitive Santa session for children with autism at Christmas. It meant the world to her family. The word is out that Burke Subaru cares about those in the community that need special help! Cape May Cares is grateful for their support of our mission to “empower through education and experience” those who need it most in the Cape May community.

Burke Subaru provides gifts to Veterans Golf Association - Katherine S.

Burke Subaru in New Jersey stands as a beacon of community spirit and support. their commitment to giving back is not just a one-time affair but a deeply ingrained tradition. This dedication was nowhere more evident than in their generosity to the Veteran's Golf Association (VGA). The VGA is a tight-knit group of veterans who share the love for the game of golf and a bond that transcends their service years. They play golf not only for the sport but also as a way to connect with follow veterans, to heal, and to find solace in the camaraderie of peers. The VGA members were lucky enough for the opportunity to have access to the Shore Club in Cape May Court House New Jersey. The event was just mentioned in a conversation with Francey Burke. Francey immediately said, "We are going to do something for our vets." Francey was told that no one was looking for anything for this event and that it was just something that was being shared in conversation, she stated, "I know, Burke loves our veterans, I will be in touch and let you know what we will do for this event." As the VGA members gathered at this beautiful golf course on a sunny morning they were in for a pleasant surprise. In each golf cart were beautifully crafted, custom drinking tumblers, each adorned with the VGA logo. The veterans couldn't help but smile as they learned that these tumblers were a gift from the Burke Subaru dealership as a token of appreciation for their service. The VGA members marveled at the quality of the tumblers that were designed to keep hot or cold drinks at the perfect temperature. Throughout the round of golf the veterans commented about how nice the gift was from Burke Subaru and how wonderful it was that a local business truly cared about its veterans. The participants in the golf outing were appreciative of the nice gifts and touched by the sentiment behind the tumblers. it was a reminder that their sacrifices were not forgotten and that Burke Subaru stood with them. The VGA members wanted to express their gratitude to the Burke's for their generosity and just of thinking of them in this way. The group signed a VGA flag for the Burke's as a heartfelt thank you and a way of showing what the gift meant to them. For some, the tumblers were a symbol of appreciation they long for but for most it was a testament to the Burke family's commitment to their community and their enduring support for those who had served and serve. It was not just about the gift, it was about the values of service and community support shared by Burke and the veterans. With great appreciation for Burke's, Subaru and the commitment to the VGA. Sincerely, Lt Col (USAR) Katherine A. Sahm

Kanen's Christmas & Middle Township School District Holiday Collaboration - Lindsey D.

For the third year in a row, Middle Township School District staff members collected gifts for students in need for Kanen’s Christmas. This organization was created in 2021 as a collaboration between Pam Shute (Supervisor of Elementary Education), Kelly Cox (Elem. #1 Guidance Counselor), and Lauren Keating-Wear in memory of one of Middle Township’s students, Kanen Keating-Wear, who passed away in 2019 from Ewing's Sarcoma. Staff throughout the district provided gifts and wrapping paper for 48 Middle Township families, which included 170 children, as well as grocery store gift cards for those in need. We thank Burke Subaru for their contributions to making this event a success and their long history of commitment to our community.

It really does take a village - Phillip B.

Thank you so much to Subaru and our friends at Burke Subaru for helping to find our boy, Billy Bob his forever home. There is a saying that it takes a village and that could not ring anymore true then with the adoption of this amazing dog. Billy Bob was a very energetic puppy that did not show well in his kennel. He became so excited when someone came to visit that his excitement was sometimes confused with misbehavior. He was a staff favorite but to our astonishment, he remained in the shelter for week after week, as many other of his dog and cat friends came in and went home. He was getting a little frustrated and we were getting a little sad. Our friends at Burke invited us to a fun evet called 3 Dog Night. It was an adoption event, a micro chipping event and we made pet tags for the public. It was a super fun event helping out and meeting the public, but most importantly it was Billy Bob's chance. It was a chance to get out of the shelter and show all the folks what a great, fun, loving and happy dog he was and that he would make a great new addition to their family. Well, with so many caring people creating this opportunity and coming together to "share" the love of animals, our little man, Billy Bob left our shelter shortly after the event. He is now living his best life and the fairy TALE ending that he so much deserved. ....and they all lived happily ever after! Thank you to our village: Francey and Doug Burke and ALL the amazing friends at Burke Subaru who brought so many people together to help make Billy Bob's wish come true. https://www.facebook.com/reel/203663409346614

Burke Subaru hosts a very special Santa event for special needs children - Francey B.

Burke Subaru hosted a very special event for special needs children and their families, including their support pets. We created a special environment that was free of loud noises or bright lights. In addition to seeing Santa, we set up quiet activity stations for coloring and reading. We also had student volunteers from a local middle school that read to the children while they waited for their turn to see Santa. We also had a support therapy dog named Turbo assist with the children while they waited. Dinner, a holiday cake, and marshmallow treats were provided to all attendees. We also gave each child a special custom made Subaru Gear gift. We had over 100 children in see Santa, and over 200 in attendance. This special Santa event is a joyous occasion and very appreciated by the special needs children and their families.
