Love Promise Stories from Burke Subaru
Subaru and Burke Subaru believe in making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work. We uphold that belief through our Love Promise Community Commitment. Every month, we select inspiring stories from customers and partners from around our area who strive to support our collective commitment and feature them here.
A year-long effort at Burke Subaru - Francey B.
Burke Subaru celebrated our annual check presentation reception in December. Our special lunch included our entire staff and many community leaders. We gathered to celebrate our year long dedication to our community with donation checks presented to local charitable organizations. The Burke Promise endeavor was founded in 2018 and we continue to support local organizations each year. In keeping with our tradition, we also welcomed the four new charitable organizations for 2026. It was really wonderful to see all the organizations interacting with each other, especially those that are Veteran support related. One of the new organizations for 2026 is a Cape May County Sheriff K9 Unit that brought several Canine Officers with them to the event. We will be supporting them every day in 2026 with their care and needed supplies. Our staff was also able to meet all the organizations that we support all year. The interaction is invaluable and inspiring! We raised over $20,000 for local organizations in 2025.
How Burke Subaru's Love Promise Community Award Helped Families in Cape May County - Yvonne S.
When families in Cape May County face housing instability, Family Promise of Cape May County becomes a place of safety, stability, and hope. Behind every family we serve stands a community that believes in lifting one another up. This year, that spirit of compassion shone brightly through Burke Subaru, who selected Family Promise as a recipient of the Subaru Love Promise Community Award. This award arrived at a time when many families were struggling to stay afloat. Parents were working hard but unable to secure stable housing, children needed a safe place to rest and grow, and families were navigating circumstances no one should face alone. The support from Burke Subaru made a meaningful difference. Through the Subaru Love Promise Community Award, we were able to strengthen our shelter program, provide essential items such as food, transportation assistance, and hygiene supplies, expand case management services, and support children with school needs and activities. The award also helped us assist many families through the Christmas season by providing toys, food, and critical support with rent and utilities. These efforts ensured that families could experience stability and joy during a time that can be especially difficult for those facing hardship. This award did more than fund services. It helped restore dignity, stability, and hope. One parent shared, "knowing that people in our community cared enough to help us gave me the strength to keep going." Burke Subaru's commitment to the Subaru Love Promise reflects the very best of Cape May County. Neighbors support neighbors, businesses invest in the wellbeing of local families, and our community stands together in the belief that every child deserves a safe place to call home. We are deeply grateful for Burke Subaru's generosity and for choosing Family Promise of Cape May County as a Love Promise Community Award recipient. Together, we are building pathways to independence and creating brighter futures for the families we serve.
Burke Subaru Helps Student Thrive - Jennifer H.
At Panthers in Action, we see every day how small acts of kindness can change lives. This year, we are especially grateful to Francey and Doug Burke of Burke Subaru for their unwavering support through the Burke Promise. From the very beginning, the Burkes have believed in our mission and in the students of Middle Township, and their generosity has created a lasting impact on our community. Thanks to their support, we are able to continue providing weekend food bags to approximately 70 students at Elementary School #1 who might otherwise go without meals when school is not in session. Beyond food, the Burke Promise allows us to expand our care closet resources at Elementary School #2, where students have access to essential clothing, school supplies, and hygiene products when they need them most. In addition, this support enables us to purchase critical items from the Middle School and High School Needs Lists, ensuring that older students also receive timely assistance. Together, these resources allow us to respond immediately to students' needs and provide support that extends beyond the classroom and into everyday life. Their generosity doesn't just meet basic needs. It gives students confidence and dignity. When children have access to proper clothing, food, hygiene products, and school supplies, they are better able to focus on learning. Every dollar donated through the Burke Promise goes directly to students, empowering them to overcome challenges and envision a brighter future. From all of us at Panthers in Action, thank you, Burke Subaru, for sharing the love, inspiring hope, and helping our students shine. Your commitment reminds us that when a community comes together, we can make a meaningful difference - one child a time!
Burke Subaru Holiday Party 2025 - Kristin R.
We volunteer with Tri-State K-9 Crisis Response Team and we brought three teams of therapy dogs to the holiday party for families with special needs children. Their goal is to make the families feel welcome and warm for the holiday season by having families attend and meet Santa. The lights are dimmed and it is a quiet atmosphere, with snacks and a gift for each child. We were happy to attend for the second year to mingle with the kids and assist in making people feel welcome and see bright smiles. It is was a fantastic event and fun to see so many children laughing and having fun.
Ospreys at Burke Subaru’s Sensory-Friendly Santa - Jamie C.
The Ospreys were honored to take part in Burke Subaru’s Sensory-Friendly Santa event — a beautiful evening designed especially for children with special needs and their families. This thoughtful event created a calm, welcoming environment where every child could enjoy the magic of meeting Santa without bright lights or loud noises. Our Ospreys were thrilled to help throughout the event, greeting families, assisting with activities, and spreading holiday cheer. Moments like these remind us that being an Osprey is about more than softball — it’s about compassion, service, and showing up for our community. The girls especially loved seeing the children’s smiles during the gentle meet-and-greet with Santa. For many of our players, this was their first time volunteering at an adaptive holiday event, and it made a lasting impact. We are incredibly grateful to Burke Subaru for inviting us and for their continued commitment to creating inclusive, family-centered experiences in Cape May County. Their dedication to the Subaru Love Promise truly shines through events like this. Thank you, Burke Subaru, for including our Ospreys in such a meaningful community experience. Giving back is at the heart of who we are.
A Subaru Sensory Santa - Valerie B.
On December 3rd students from all over Cape May County were fortunate to experience Santa in a different way! Burke Subaru held a “Sensory Santa” for children and adults with disabilities. This event featured therapy dogs, low lighting, soft music, yummy foods and of course the big guy himself, Santa! The whole experience gave children who are normally overwhelmed by crowds and noise the opportunity to see Santa in a much more comfortable environment. The event was organized with sensory friendly activities; such as holiday book readings, a coloring station and kid friendly foods. The entire night kept people with sensory needs in mind making it enjoyable for all. We are so grateful to have a company like Burke Subaru in our community to give back and think of others during the holiday season.
No Limits Academy & Burke Subaru - Christine C.
We had the privilege of joining Burke Subaru for an educational and inspiring evening that exemplifies their Subaru Love Promise. Their team welcomed 75 of us to a night dedicated to learning, community engagement, and educational discussion about issues impacting our youth today. The evening featured a presentation from the Middle Township Police Department, focusing on e-bikes, social media, and their impact on our youth. The officers provided practical guidance on safety, responsible use, and how our youth can work together to support young people navigating these day to day challenges. Following the presentation, we shared a meal from Jack’s Shack food truck, giving everyone a chance to discuss what they learned over a delicious meal and build connections. This combination of education and community engagement highlighted the importance of learning together as a group, reinforcing that awareness and understanding are essential to a stronger, safer community. This event exemplifies the power of community and the impact of organizations like Burke Subaru, who create spaces where education, connection, and support come together. By hosting this evening, Burke Subaru not only provided a learning opportunity but also demonstrated how community partnerships can uplift, empower, and educate everyone involved. We are deeply grateful to Burke Subaru for living out their Love Promise—turning a night of learning into an experience that strengthens our entire community.
Burke Subaru: A True Partner in Supporting and Protecting Our Youth - Ofc. Alyssa J. - Alyssa J.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to Burke Subaru for hosting the students of No Limits Boxing Academy and providing an opportunity for me to speak about safety concerns our youth may face. Burke Subaru’s dedication to our community truly sets the standard for what it means to give back. Your continued support of youth programs, from our very own Middle Township Police Youth Camp to organizations like No Limits Boxing Academy, shows a genuine commitment to investing in the next generation. Speaking with these students about staying safe and responsible while on foot or by bicycle, as well as making safe and smart choices on social media, was a truly valuable opportunity made possible because of Burke Subaru. Year after year, Burke Subaru continues to lead by example through their actions and not just words. Thank you, Burke Subaru, for consistently opening up your doors to events that protect, educate, and uplift our community. The men and women of the Middle Township Police Department greatly appreciate your unwavering commitment, generosity, and dedication to being a positive force and partner in our community.
Seeing Our Community Come Together for a Common Purpose - Russell N.
Another fantastic 3 Dog Night event at Burke Subaru brought our community of dog owners together in a meaningful and purposeful way. The goal was clear. Support the Ocean City Humane Society and give people a place to do something positive for dogs that need help. I was there with Lead The Way Dog Training to talk with families about their dogs and to share some guidance. All around me I saw people connecting with one another for the same reason. Some were there specifically to support the humane society. Others came with questions about behavior and training. Many simply wanted to be part of something that strengthens the bond between people and their dogs. Burke Subaru created the perfect atmosphere for that. The Cape May County Sheriffs Office K9 Unit gave a demonstration that showed the trust and teamwork between the handlers and their dogs. HSOCNJ offered free microchipping to help keep pets safe, and families appreciated having that service available. A light dinner was provided, and Matty G Hot Dogz kept everyone fed while people talked and relaxed together. This year they also added a seasonal activity with the dog costume party, which brought out laughter, creativity, and a fun way for people to meet and connect. What I noticed most was how the entire event felt genuine. Burke Subaru put real effort into making everyone feel welcome and into supporting the humane society. You could see their care for the community in the way the day was organized and in the way they treated everyone who came through the door. From my point of view, the event was a reminder of what good can happen when a business chooses to lift up its community. People came together with a shared purpose. They supported the Ocean City Humane Society. They celebrated their dogs and the joy they bring into our lives. I was grateful to be part of a day built on compassion, connection, and meaningful action.
Middle Township Middle School - Jeff O.
For the last several years, Middle Township Middle School has been recipients of an award from Burke Subaru in Cape May Court House, NJ to support student learning. These awards have been used to get much needed supplies that helped to further support and enhance the educational opportunities at our school in areas of STEM Education, Special Education and Social Studies Education. Burke Subaru and the Burke Family have been tremendous community partners and supportive sponsors of the educational community in Middle Township. As the Principal of Middle Township Middle School and on behalf of the staff and students of our school, I am extremely thankful to Subaru and the Burke Subaru Dealership for their continued support. I look forward to this continued partnership in years to come!
???? A Love-Promise Kind of Day with Burke Subaru! ???? - Jamie C.
On October 22, 2025 the South Jersey Ospreys Travel Softball Organization proudly partnered with Burke Subaru to support the annual 3 Dog Night event. This community gathering celebrates animal welfare, adoption, and local engagement, and our athletes were honored to contribute. Throughout the day, Osprey players assisted with microchipping, adoption support, and general event coordination—but one activity quickly became their favorite: judging the dog costume contests. From superheroes and pumpkins to tiny four-legged princesses, the girls were delighted by every creative entry. They took their role seriously, thoughtfully selecting winners while sharing plenty of laughter and smiles. It was a memorable experience that blended fun with responsibility, and one they’re still talking about. At the Ospreys, we believe travel softball extends far beyond the field. Experiences like 3 Dog Night teach our athletes the value of service, teamwork, and compassion. They learn what it means to show up for their community—both as players and as young leaders. We are incredibly proud of our girls for representing the Ospreys with enthusiasm, kindness, and positivity. And we are deeply grateful to Burke Subaru for inviting us to participate and for their continued commitment to the Subaru Love Promise and our local community.
Burke Subaru loves pets! - Francey B.
Burke Subaru held our annual event in honor of Subaru Loves Pets Month, affectionately called 3 Dog Night! We provided free microchipping and tags in conjunction with the Humane Society of Ocean City. There were pup adoption opportunities, and then an awesome K9 demonstration put on by our local Sheriff’s department. We also hosted our first ever Halloween dog costume party and had about two dozen dogs and their owners enter and parade around the Subaru premises. The costume party judges were members of a girls softball team who volunteered their time. Awards were handed out in various categories. Highlights of the evening included a fantastic hotdog dinner with all the trimmings, and a Subaru themed gift for all attendees. It was a festive and informative event attended by over 75 people and their pups!
Tricks and Treats - Phillip B.
Emelia Earhart once wrote, "A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up new trees". I have had the pleasure of witnessing that seed of kindness being planted by our friend Francy Burke and our rescue partners at Burke Subaru. Her thoughtfulness brought an amazing and kind community together to support our mission at “The” Humane Society of Ocean City “to provide the highest level of compassion and service to our animal friends. With the generosity of the Subaru Love Promise we provided free micro chips to members of the community as well as pet tags (or dog license plates) and three of the cutest dogs you will ever meet, who were up for adoption. Suzette, one of our dogs who appeared during this event found her forever home shortly after. The funds that we received have been allocated to covering the medical cost of shelter animals. Recently, we had two cats that received emergency medical care after being found abandoned in someone's attic for over two months. Our staff provided twenty four hour care for over four days to help save their lives. It will also help us provide low cost spay and neuter services for our surrounding communities . The HSOC took in several dogs from other shelters who had prior medical conditions. One of those dogs was at our event and has fully recovered and is waiting for the loving family he so deserves. The HSOC will also use funds to have one of our special needs dogs be seen by a specialist for orthopedic issues. Our Cape May Community showed up BIG time with an awesome K9 demonstration from the Cape May County Sheriff's Department, a delicious meal from Matty G Dogz Food Cart(of course hot dogs) and a special Howl-o-ween Doggie Costume Parade put together by our local trainer Russ of Lead the Way Dog Training with guest judges from a local youth girls softball team, the Ospreys. It truly supported the saying that “it takes a village”. This and dozens of people coming out with their pups all dressed up made for a very special evening of both tricks AND treats. Thank you Francey, and Burke and of course the amazing people at Subaru. Your Love Promise is a true inspiration and is making a difference in the lives of so many people and their pets. What started out as a seed of kindness may someday grow to a forest!
Car wash to benefit the MTHS baseball team! - Francey B.
Burke Subaru held a very successful car wash to benefit our local high school baseball team. The players worked hard washing dozens of vehicles at this team-building event. The students were treated to a pizza lunch, compliments of Burke Subaru. The raised over $1500 to be used to purchase needed equipment for the team. We were very pleased to host this successful fundraiser for our local kids!
Annual Burke Car Truck and Cycle Show to benefit the United States Coast Guard! - Francey B.
Burke Subaru was honored to present our annual Car, Truck, and Cycle Show which benefits the Coast Guard Foundation. We had over 250 vehicles and over 1200 people attend our show on a beautiful Labor Day weekend. We broke all previous records and raised over $40,000 for the Coast Guard! The event was highlighted by a parades into the show from local car clubs and an American Legion motorcycle post who strongly support our veterans. On display were three antique fire engines from a local fire department. We had food trucks, dozens of sponsors, a Coast Guard rescue boat and crew, and the awards were determined by Coast Guard personnel. It’s a privilege to be able to host this show and present such an amazing amount of funds raised to a fantastic organization that serves our local community and its active military.
Burke Subaru, Thank You! - Chloe S.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to Burke Subaru for their generous $500 donation. This gift has made a meaningful difference in my life and work. When I was facing the reality of purchasing quality headphones for student's to use during independent work, I felt the financial strain weighing on me. These headphones are essential for students' productivity and focus, yet the cost seemed difficult to justify given my current budget. Thanks to Burke Subaru's kindness, I no longer had to dip into my own limited funds to make this necessary purchase. Beyond the headphones, Burke Subaru also donated a supply of pencils—something I use constantly in my daily work. They even included dry erase markers, which I rely on every single day, and Flair pens, which are simply the best for grading quizzes. Their thoughtfulness in providing these essential supplies has relieved a genuine burden. It's easy to underestimate how quickly these items add up in cost, but Burke Subaru's generosity has allowed me to focus on my work without worrying about replenishing my supplies. This donation represents more than just materials; it demonstrates Burke Subaru's commitment to supporting individuals in our community who are working hard to succeed. Their generosity has allowed me to invest my resources elsewhere and to continue my work with better-equipped tools. I am truly thankful for Burke Subaru's compassion and support. Companies like yours make a real difference in people's lives, and I won't forget this act of kindness.
Bringing History Back to Life with the Help of Burke Subaru! - Holly H.
My name is Holly Heacock-Martinez, and I teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade social studies. My lessons usually consist of notes, lectures, graphic organizers, papers, projects, vocabulary review, and documentaries or related videos. I complete a poll at the beginning of the year that asks students "How do you learn best?" and the overall consensus is usually through "videos." This, however, can sometimes be a complicated lesson to assign and complete, as students need headphones to listen to the videos. I usually have a handful in the classroom that students can borrow, and sometimes a student or two bring their own headphones, but usually I'm left to tell students to watch the video with the captions on or to keep the volume very low. Therefore, I was elated to hear that Burke Subaru had donated to my classroom this year! I knew immediately that I would put this money towards purchasing quality headphones that wouldn't break after two or three uses, and that would allow my students to be able to listen to the videos that they love to learn through. I am so grateful for this donation, and my students are too! Thank you, Burke Subaru!
Burke Subaru in action at Middle Township schools. - Francey B.
Panthers in Action is new organization that was started at our local school system. Their mission is to promote the health and well-being of the students and families in the Middle Township School district by ensuring equitable access to resources. The organization reached out to Burke Subaru to see if we could provide students with tumblers for hydration throughout the day. We acted immediately upon the request, and with the assistance of Subaru Gear, we designed custom tumblers for these students. The tumblers are high-quality and made out of recycled materials, which is also a good lesson for students by utilizing an Earth-friendly product. Burke Subaru was very pleased to provide these tumblers for the students to use every day during the school year.
The Burke Subaru Car Show… Where the passion for our Coast Guard Community takes the wheel - Marla B.
On August 30, 2025, Burke Subaru held their annual Car Show benefiting the Cape May County Coast Guard Community Foundation. We were welcomed by over 230 registered vehicles of all shapes, sizes, colors, old and new, buses, fire trucks, cycles and more… Many of these registered participants are loyal to this event and have been coming back year after year. Coast Guard Members joined us by acting as our judges and volunteers, a few registered their vehicles, and a Coast Guard spouse shared her creativity by creating an impressive chalk drawing of the Car Show logo. Also, among the Coast Guard attendees, were groups from the Go Coast Guard Recruiting team, Chief Petty Officers Association, Coast Guard Enlisted Association, USCG Auxiliary with their robot mascot Coastie, Small Boat Station Atlantic City with their lifeboat on display, and crew members of a USCG Cutter homeported in Cape May. Having our Coast Guard Members and affiliated organizations there to support this event is always a welcome treasure for the attendees, from our community and beyond, who come out to join us on a busy holiday weekend. Speaking of community, we are thankful for a dedicated group of local volunteers who share their time with us each year to make the registration process smooth sailing. There are also local community vendors, food and ice cream trucks, donated beverages, live music, the American Legion Riders Post 352, and the Freedom Boat Club Pontoon Boat on display. Last, but most definitely, not least, this event is supported by an amazing group of sponsors including our long-time title sponsor, Sturdy Savings Bank, as well as other companies and donors from near and far. At the close of this fun-filled Saturday on Labor Day weekend, we were presented with a check for over $36,000, beating by far, every record. This extremely generous donation will allow us to maintain our mission of nurturing the relationship between Coast Guard members, their families, Recruits, and the people of Cape May County which we accomplish through advocacy, by developing our own programs, supporting the efforts of other organizations with a common goal, and facilitating active engagement within our “Designated Coast Guard Community” through unique and exciting community centered events. Cape May County is considered the “hometown” of the Coast Guard as well as the home of many Veterans from all branches of the Military. Burke Subaru honors the service of all Military members and Veterans throughout the year with dozens of other initiatives and events, and they are always striving to create new ways of showing their support and pride for their community. We are extremely grateful for Burke Subaru and the relationship and partnership we have shaped with the Burke Subaru Car Show.
Burke Subaru loves Learning! - Francey B.
Burke Subaru had the honor today of presenting school supplies and a $3000 grant to Middle Township Middle School. The teachers selected were from the social studies department. Some of them have already ordered supplies, and they are just ecstatic for the extra funding for their classrooms. One of the teachers is a special needs social study teacher, and he mentioned he already ordered and received Velcro type special supplies for his students. He remarked how wonderful it was to be able to customize his grant purchase especially for his special-needs students. The principal just loves this program and he shares it on the school website. Subaru also did a nice job with that yearbook that the students and faculty can sign and we look forward to looking over the comments when we receive it back at the dealership. Burke Subaru loves this program for our students in the community!
Burke Subaru Supports Local School - Carolyn S.
Burke Subaru partnered with a local non profit, Panthers in Action, to design and provide reusable, sustainably made, water bottles for our elementary school students. This initiative provided our school with 250 reusable, metal water bottles to distribute to students in need. We are immensely grateful for this donation as it helps us to ensure our students remain hydrated and spread Panther Pride at the same time!
Panthers in Action and Burke Subaru: Supporting Students, One Tumbler at a Time - Jennifer H.
At Panthers in Action, our mission is to promote the health and well-being of students and families in the Middle Township School District by ensuring equitable access to essential resources. Thanks to the generous support from Burke Subaru, we were able to provide 250 custom-designed tumblers to students in need. These aren’t just any tumblers. They were specially designed to match our school spirit, helping students stay hydrated while showing their Panther pride. Access to something as simple as a water bottle can have a meaningful impact on a student’s day. These tumblers support both physical wellness and emotional connection, reminding our students that their community cares deeply about their success and well-being. We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from Burke Subaru and their commitment to making a real difference in our schools. Together, we are sharing the love—and the Panther spirit—one student at a time.
Burke Subaru Car Show Celebrates Community and Coast Guard Pride - Russ N.
At Lead The Way Dog Training we look for events that create genuine community impact and reflect our values of leadership and service. The Burke Subaru Car Show was exactly that. This event was not just about cars. It was about people coming together. It gave us the opportunity to connect with families, talk about their dogs, and build new relationships in the community. The atmosphere was welcoming and engaging and a true reflection of the Subaru Love Promise in action. What stood out most was how Burke Subaru creates events that strengthen the fabric of Cape May County. Their support for local organizations including those that honor the Coast Guard community aligns closely with our own commitment to service and giving back. For us attending the Car Show was about more than a day out. It was about being part of something that brings people, pets, and community together in a meaningful way.
A Labor Day to Remember: Burke Subaru’s Heart for Community - Carre Z.
This Labor Day, something special happened. What started as a simple catering gig turned into one of the most meaningful experiences of our summer—and of our journey so far as a small, female-owned business. We’re Carre’s Cafe, a new food truck with big dreams and a deep love for the community. Getting started is never easy, but it helps when someone believes in you. For us, that someone was Francey Burke of Burke Subaru in Cape May Court House, New Jersey. Francey took a chance on us. She reached out and asked if we’d cater an event for Burke Subaru over Labor Day weekend. We didn’t hesitate. We jumped on the opportunity—and we’re so glad we did. What we found at the event went far beyond great food and friendly faces. We found a true community. The people we met—whether they were part of the Burke Subaru team, loyal customers, or community members—were some of the kindest, most welcoming people we've ever served. Their gratitude and generosity spoke volumes about the culture Burke Subaru has cultivated over the years. And at the heart of it all was Francey. It was immediately clear how much she genuinely cares—not just about her business, but about the people who walk through the doors, the families in Cape May Court House, and small businesses like ours trying to find our footing. Her passion and sincerity set the tone for the entire event. This wasn’t just a Labor Day celebration. It was a celebration of community, trust, and the beautiful things that happen when local businesses lift each other up. Thank you, Francey, and thank you to everyone at Burke Subaru. Your dedication to Cape May Court House is inspiring—and your kindness made this Labor Day one we’ll never forget. With full hearts and full plates, The Carre’s Cafe Team
Burke Subaru supports Middle Township Police Summer Camp - Francey B.
Burke Subaru is so proud to continue our support of the Middle Township Police Dept Summer Camp. The campers attend for a week and have a wide variety of experiences. We provided a custom designed Subaru themed backpack for all the campers. The week culminates with the camper graduation ceremony at National Night Out.
Did Burke Subaru go above and beyond, provide exceptional service, or support causes that are important to you? We'd love to hear about it.
